Crystal Lake, Illinois – July 19, – The Board of Directors of Lakeside Legacy Foundation are pleased to announce that the Executive Director search is over. After an extensive search, the Board has made an offer, that was accepted, to our first Executive Director Team…Nancy Merkling and Janet Kay. They officially take on the role of Co-Executive Directors of the Dole on Tuesday, July 23rd.
“Nancy Merkling & Janet Kay have served in various capacities both in the business community and the arts community. Through their combined acquired experience, the Lakeside Board of Directors feel they bring a unique set of skills, abilities and knowledge essential to the mission and vision of Lakeside. We’re excited about the energy, enthusiasm and creative innovation that Nancy and Janet bring with them to work towards our common goal of taking Lakeside Arts Park at the Dole to the next level & a bright future.” said Patti Lutz, Board President of Lakeside Legacy Foundation.
“We are excited for the opportunity to lead Lakeside Arts Park at the Dole as co-executive directors. This is the first time Lakeside Arts Park has hired an executive director duo. Together we have 30 years combined artist and business experience which brings to this position unique skill sets that will surely serve the arts community here at Lakeside Arts Park and beyond.” – Nancy Merkling & Janet Kay, Co-Executive Directors
As co-owners of Nancy Merkling Productions (NMP), Nancy & Janet will continue to do photography and teach, but in a smaller capacity in order to put Lakeside Arts Park at the Dole as their number 1 priority. The NMP 4th Fridays Art Event will relaunch with its first crazy-successful event at its forever home on October 25, 2019 as 4th Fridays Art Event at the Dole.
1st Fridays at the Dole will remain as an event that serves the community, the schools and for regional artists to exhibit their work. We are going to brainstorm with the team here on how to do that with a greater impact. 4th Fridays will continue to be a different event model that focuses on emerging and established artists, a photo contest and a solo show for a Featured Artist who receives this honored position after winning a Best of Show in a previous 4th Fridays event.
“Watch for our state of the art culinary space to blossom with opportunity, our Listening Room to fill up with a beautiful variety of innovative ideas, and our now TWO art events to serve our community with opportunities.” – Nancy Merkling & Janet Kay, Co-Executive Directors
