As a professional musician and educator I have taught privately in hundreds of locations and environments. But none inspire me as much as working at the Dole Mansion. I find it a perfect setting for performing music and teaching music. The building and grounds provide me with an excellent spot for my students as well.-Roger Reupert/R2 Music www.rogerreupert.com
Many thanks to The Dole for supporting local artists, by offering a community for creative minds like myself and my musician husband.
We scoured McHenry County for studio space with specific needs in mind: location, ideal studio size, reasonable rental cost and utility costs. The Dole seemed to be under the radar as far as advertised studio rentals. When we checked The Dole in an aha moment we were pleased to discover this was our best fit: within blocks from our house, with adjoining studios, and reasonable rent which includes heat, electricity, and free WIFI.
Safety was also our concern. Besides the 24/7 secured studio access, we’ve found The Dole artists and independent businesses to be a growing community who take an interest in each other and the secured environment.
One of the perks of renting at The Dole is their marketing. As a tenant: one can advertise their business on The Dole’s website, show their business cards and fliers in the main entrance, can participate in the 4th Fridays Art events, and on occasion, a tenant may receive business opportunities through The Dole’s marketing by local contacts inquiring for specific services.
My husband and I are satisfied with our studios and are reassured that as our artistic needs change there is the potential to move to a different studio space in the building.
Working in the Dole Mansion is a dream come true. When I was looking to expand outside of my home-based publishing and coaching business, I wanted to find a space that was inspiring, not standard “office” fare, and a space that was quiet, yet engaging. The gorgeous, historical setting of The Dole and the variety of artists and local businesses within has far exceeded my expectations.
My search criteria included a location that was close to home yet also close to my business partners. The Dole checks that box as well. I am within walking distance of my home, and within a short drive of most of my local business partners, with ample access and parking for their needs should we meet here. The Dole property is secure and safe with 24/7 access yet with more than enough security when burning the midnight oil.
On the subject of meetings, I prefer a building with adjoining meeting space, or even events space for my partners and stakeholders. The Dole has interesting and spacious options available; from small meetings around a conference table to larger gatherings in the hundreds.
Finally, I needed all of this to be affordable. I don’t require a ton of space for my business and the largest problem elsewhere was that the minimum square footage was 2-3x larger than I needed, driving lease costs up. The small space options available at The Dole is the red bow on top. I was able to get everything I needed, plus everything I wanted (and more) in a space that suits my working needs perfectly, keeping my overhead costs where I needed them to be.
In the end, I found everything that I was looking for and much more at The Dole!Zach Zentner, Publisher Lakewood Life | Wynstone Life | BeLOCAL Crystal Lake
